Diary of a Theatre Manager – Episode 2

By Harrison Fuller

FORTHCOMING ON STAGE AND SCREEN

Another busy week to summarise here at The Broadway. We have secured several new shows which are already up on sale, including The Magic Santa Show, Fastlove – a George Michael tribute, Big Girls Don’t Cry – a celebration of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, You WIn Again – the music of the Bee Gees, and even The Magic of Motown, which is scheduled for November 2018!

With a calendar filling up nicely, thoughts have been looking forward in a different way, to restoring cinema to The Broadway. We had an inspiring visit from Darren, who is going to aid us in getting the old 35mm projectors up and running and assist with sourcing a digital projector. For those techies, who have asked, YES, we hope they will in due course handle 70mm, too. I have a few cinema events in mind for the New Year, so please be sure to watch this space.

Next week we have our panto press launch and it means we will have our cast in the building for the first time. It will be a superb opportunity for us to meet them and talk all things pantomime, as well as take some photos which we will be sure to share with you, so as to give you a ‘sneak peak’ of what’s in store.Read More

A BUSY BEGINNING…

I have only been at the Broadway for three short weeks, but they have flown by in a whirl of opening nights, dazzling lights and an ever increasingly busy diary. The aim of this blog is to give you an insight into the theatre and what we are working towards. There will be a new post each week, keeping you updated with the goings on here at The Broadway.

The three weeks have gone by quickly because they have been busy. My first task (on day one) was to find something for Christmas, and I am delighted that this year we are partnering with KD Theatre Productions to bring the traditional family pantomime Aladdin to The Broadway (oh yes we are! – I thought I’d make the joke before someone else).

Casting is currently underway and this Sunday (24th) we will be holding auditions for our chorus. Taking place at the theatre, the auditions will seek to find talent from the local area and provide an opportunity for aspiring performers to be part of a professional show.Read More
